Yun-Fei Ji
Monday, April 28, 2008

Yun-Fei Ji (b. 1963) mixes traditional methods of Chinese landscape painting with radically juxta-
posed contemporary references to create richly detailed, large scale ink paintings that tell many
stories within a single work. Recently, Ji has focused on portraying changes to the banks of the
Yangtze during construction of the Three Gorges Dam. His work has been shown widely in US and
abroad, including exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis; ICA, Philadelphia; the
Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon; the Whitney Biennial (2002), NY; and the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
Represented by James Cohan Gallery.
