David Altmejd (b. 1974) creates complex installations that combine the high gloss of commercial
display and modernist architecture with gothic additions of taxidermied mythological creatures, silk
flowers, crystals, and mirrors. He is inspired by processes of transformation to create objects with
inherent energy and a potential for life. His work has been exhibited internationally, including the
Canadian Pavilion, 2007 Venice Biennale; Museum Ludwig, Cologne, Germany; the 8th International
Istanbul Biennial; and the Whitney Biennial (2004), NY. Represented by Andrea Rosen Gallery.
